Hello

I want to first acknowledge my greatest accomplishment, my nine year old son, Tristan John Jackson. As much as I love words, they are not enough to describe my love for him. 

 

I am a professor by profession and a writer by passion. I write! I believe in the Write Life. I teach it and live by it. I am a lover of words, and I like to share this love with others. 

 

I am from Motown, Detroit, MI. I have always been a city girl and a blue-collar worker at heart. I earned my Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts, both in English, from Marygrove College in Detroit.

 

After working an office administration position from 2006-2007, I decided to take a chance and teach on the college level. I began teaching English, speech, and business writing classes in 2008 and have enjoyed my role as an English Professor ever since. I take pride in seeing my students through their time in mycourses. 

 

I have built bonds with my students and colleagues that have inspired me to continue to teach. I have loved teaching since I was a little girl. As a child, unsurprisingly, I wanted to be a teacher. In my spare time I used to play school with whoever would listen. Everyone was a student, including shampoo bottles. Ha! I am blessed to have fulfilled my childhood dreams. Of course, teaching actual humans is much more rewarding.

As much as I love teaching, my passion, my first love, was writing. As an avid reader, writing came natural for me. It is where I learned to express myself creatively, emotionally, and educationally. Writing is where I found my dreams and place in this world.
